Food, rest and Umbrian hospitality
Eating well here has less to do with ceremony than with the ordinary pleasure of sitting down after a long walk uphill. The kitchen and bar are on the property, in the garden's shade, a few steps from your room.

Breakfast, a restaurant, a bar, a coffee house and a snack bar, all within the grounds, so the end of a sightseeing day needs no planning at all.
Assisi is a town of steep lanes, and the walk back down from the old walls in the evening is exactly when most travellers stop wanting to look for somewhere to eat. Having a kitchen on the property changes the shape of a stay: you come through the gate, put your shoes down, and dinner is already a short walk across gravel rather than a decision.
Breakfast, and a slow start
Breakfast is served on the property each morning, and it can also be arranged in your room if you would rather not come downstairs. Assisi is at its best early, when the light is low on the stone and the streets above are still quiet, so many guests eat, fill a water bottle and set off on foot towards the basilica while the day is cool.
We do not publish menus, serving times or prices on this page, because those details change with the season and with the number of guests staying. Ask at reception when you arrive and you will get accurate information for the days you are actually here. Breakfast is not described as included in your room either; the conditions shown when you reserve are the ones that apply.
Between meals, all day long
A coffee house and a snack bar sit alongside the restaurant, which covers the awkward hours: mid-morning coffee before a walk, something small in the afternoon when lunch has been skipped for a church, and a drink on the terrace while the valley cools.
The restaurant, the bar and the garden beyond

There is a restaurant on site for guests who prefer not to climb back up into town in the evening, along with a bar for the hours either side of dinner. The character of the cooking is traditional and regional, drawing on the produce, oil and simple preparations that define this part of Umbria rather than on anything elaborate or invented.
It is a calm place to eat. Tables inside the old monastery building, the terrace when the weather is kind, and the garden immediately beyond, with mature planting holding the last of the warmth. That setting, far more than any claim to fine dining, is what makes dinner here worth staying in for.
Requests and extras
Special diets
Special-diet meals are available on request. Tell us in advance, or at the latest when you check in, so the kitchen can plan around it properly rather than improvising at service.
Breakfast in your room
Breakfast can be brought to your room if you would rather begin the day privately, which suits early risers heading up to the basilica before the streets fill.
Meals for children
Kids' meals are available for an additional charge, and the garden immediately outside means restless children are never far from somewhere to run.
Fruit, wine and champagne
Fruit is available for an additional charge, as are wine and champagne, which are a pleasant way to close an evening on the terrace after a long walking day.
Room service is available for guests who would rather stay in altogether, and the shared lounge is an easy place to sit with a drink when an evening turns cool. Anything not described on this site should be treated as unconfirmed until you have asked us directly.
Eat well, sleep near the basilica, and let the day end slowly.
Check your dates for a room in the garden, and ask us about breakfast, dinner and any dietary requirement when you arrive or before you travel.
If something about your stay needs discussing first, whether that is an accessible room, an early departure, a dog travelling with you or a special-diet meal, write or call the property and we will tell you plainly what is possible.
